Our Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

We’re doing our part to help those in need during the global COVID-19 pandemic in line with one of our core missions of fighting for a more just and equal world. In a crisis like this, inequities are more clear than ever in terms of access to essential resources like food, shelter, and other critical human rights.

Below are our first steps, among more to come, in responding and stepping up to meet the match of this crisis.

• Los Angeles Regional Food Bank: We’ve made a grant that will provide up to 50,000 meals to those in need in our local community, roughly the number of Los Angeles County’s population currently experiencing homelessness

• #DoYourPartChallenge: Alexis Fleischer has launched an already massively successful global social media campaign to encourage public figures to provide meals to those in need while supporting local restaurants

  • 4/3 Update: After crafting a partnership with DoorDash, Alexis’ #DoYourPartChallenge has led to 2.3 million meals for Feeding America®

• Various other grants: We’ve made grants to various other organizations during this troubling time including funding an emergency relief fund through a 501(c)(3) for individuals experiencing hardship due to the pandemic and continued regular funding of organizations we otherwise support throughout the year

We are grateful to have the ability to help in the ways we can with these steps being the beginning of our response.
